Hello, I’m Daniel Banura you call me Danny :) I am a research-driven visual storyteller from Sierra Leone currently based in Germany. With my background in journalism I have a strong passion for turning complex ideas into clear, visually appealing stories. My work blends research, journalism, film making and motion design a mix that helps me explain culture, history, and society with clarity, creativity, and depth. I’ve created content and visual explainers for organisations including UN Climate Change (UNFCCC), BBC News Africa, BBC Media Action, GIZ’s International PtX Hub, WHO, World Vision, and the International Trade Centre (ITC). I hold a BA in Mass Communication from FBC University of Sierra Leone and an MA in Digital Narratives from the IFS International Film School köln in Germany. I love to learn and share my progress through visuals. I love projects that educate, inspire, and bring overlooked narratives into the light. I’m always open to creative collaborations in journalism, culture, education, digital storytelling, and motion design, especially projects that explore African history or rethink how we communicate complex ideas.

Research Creation
I transform research into clear, visually compelling narratives. My process blends deep investigation with storytelling analysing data, exploring history, and turning complex ideas into accessible scripts.From there, I design the visuals that bring those scripts to life, combining motion design, animation, and sound to communicate ideas that resonate. I’ve applied this method in collaborations with organisations across Europe, Africa, the UK, and the United States.My MA project at the ifs internationale filmschule Köln was a research-creation initiative — Mandi, a digital graphic novel exploring climate change and flood vulnerability in Sierra Leone. It reflects my commitment to merging research, art, and communication to make knowledge both accessible and emotionally powerful.

Motion Design + Visual Storytelling
I create documentary-style videos, explainer pieces, and fast, visually engaging social stories. My approach blends design, editing, and motion graphics to make complex ideas easy to understand and impossible to scroll past.Adobe After Effects is my main tool, supported by the full Adobe Suite and new AI-assisted workflows that enhance precision and speed. Whether crafting a data-driven explainer or a short digital campaign, my focus remains the same: using visual storytelling to inform, inspire, and connect.

From concept to delivery, I craft multimedia content and communication strategies that help organisations connect with their audiences. I combine storytelling with campaign development, field research, and editorial clarity to create messages that resonate and drive action.I’ve supported international institutions including GIZ’s International PtX Hub, the International Trade Centre (ITC), and UN Climate Change (UNFCCC) — bridging policy with people through creative communication.I’m passionate about youth engagement and digital storytelling, creating campaigns that empower young people to learn, participate, and lead conversations on social change.
